Reflections

I have always been someone who works pretty hard. But I have never worked as hard in my life as these last few years setting up The Artists Business Lounge and creating and delivering a raft of content to so many artists through my free and paid content.

Even harder than the year when I had 5 solo exhibitions in 3 states, a 5-year-old, a part-time job and we bought a house! (Looking back, I can hardly believe I did all that in one short year)

The stress and work involved in creating a genuine start-up on your own, with just a laptop, a head full of knowledge and a burning vision, has been greater than I had imagined (even though I kind of knew what I was in for).

Juggling everything, testing, learning and setting up somewhat complex systems so I could reach more people and support them in all the ways they needed, learning new tech, getting used to being on video, and marketing – so much learning there!

As well as facing my fears, bootstrapping and doing so much inner work.

All while delivering to the artists who joined me along the way.

HUGE investment in money, energy and time.

And I LOVE it.

Believe it or not, keeping close to my own vulnerability and learning curve keeps me close to the appreciation I already had for the vulnerability and learning curve of the artists I work with – either in the past, now or in the future.

I am so very proud of what I have built from an idea and a desire to support artists.
And continually delighted by the success of others.

But at this early stage, it is still a challenge so, gee it’s nice to have a touch of recognition beyond the artists I work with.
