Art Business Coaching for Visual Artists
In 2024, I am delighted to have again been honoured with the Influential Businesswoman Awards as Best International Visual Artist Career Coach 2024 – Australia.
Just like building a career as an artist, building a small business has its challenges and a whole lot of personal growth and learning. Small acknowledgements like this can help and – as I am always telling the artists I work with – acknowledging all the wins, small and big with gratitude and grace helps us to invite in (and appreciate) even more success.
So thank you Acquisitions International, and thank you to the artists who work with me and spread the word.
Regards

BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND – Amanda van Gils, founder of The Artists Business Lounge, continues to shine as a leading figure in the Australian art community, following a remarkable year of recognition. After being honoured in March with the 2024 Australian Enterprise Award for ‘Visual Artist Career Coaching Service’ by APAC Insider, van Gils has now been awarded the 2024 Influential Businesswoman Award for Best International Visual Artist Career Coach (Australia) by Acquisition International.
The APAC Insider’s Australian Enterprise Awards are a prestigious accolade celebrating business excellence across the Asia-Pacific region. Van Gils received this award earlier in the year for her innovative approach to coaching visual artists, helping them turn their creative talents into thriving careers through her Brisbane-based business, The Artists Business Lounge.
“Receiving the Australian Enterprise Award was a defining moment for me, and being recognized as the Best International Visual Artist Career Coach just a few months later is incredibly rewarding,” said van Gils. “These awards are a testament to the impact we’re making here in Australia, where my roots and the majority of my clients are based.”
Despite her international recognition, van Gils’ work is deeply embedded in the Australian art scene. She has become a trusted figure for Australian artists seeking to navigate the challenges of building sustainable careers. The Influential Businesswoman Award, announced in July 2024, highlights her standout contributions not just on a global scale, but importantly within Australia, where her local expertise and understanding of the market are unmatched.
“While it’s wonderful to have international reach, my focus remains on serving the Australian art community,” van Gils explained. “Being local allows me to offer insights and support that resonate deeply with the specific needs of Australian artists. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see them thrive in our unique market.”
Founded in 2020, The Artists Business Lounge is an innovative online coaching platform dedicated to helping visual artists across Australia and beyond. Van Gils uses a unique Mindset, Skillset, and Toolset approach to guide her clients through the complexities of turning their artistic passions into profitable and fulfilling careers.
“My coaching style is very much shaped by the Australian context—warm, direct, and focused on achieving real results,” van Gils said. “The Artists Business Lounge is a space where Australian artists can find the tailored support they need to grow, all within a comfortable, familiar setting that understands their challenges.”
While her business has attracted clients from the United States, United Kingdom, and other international markets, van Gils remains committed to her Australian base. Her deep understanding of the local art scene and her ability to provide high-touch, personalized coaching have solidified her reputation as the go-to career coach for visual artists in Australia.
“I’m dedicated to helping Australian artists develop the confidence and business skills they need to succeed, both locally and globally,” van Gils emphasized. “These awards have not only raised my profile but have also given me more opportunities to connect with and support even more Australian artists.”
In addition to her successful coaching career, van Gils is an accomplished artist with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from Monash University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Visual Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts, and a Post-Graduate Degree in Business with a major in Human Resources from RMIT. She also holds certifications as an NLP Practitioner and Master Life Coach.
