Art Business Coaching for Visual Artists
A while ago as we were coming to the end of the first quarter, the artists in the program got together – as we do each quarter – to review their progress and make plans for the next three months.
It was a fabulous session because just the clarity around deciding what they are striving for, actions they’ve put into place and the progress they are all making is so impressive.
But goal setting and how to make that really work for you isn’t what I want to talk about today. But rather sharing an insight that came from that session…
It turns out I have rather a few sayings and questions I share on our calls that people have been using to help them in their daily practice.
And since they are working for them, I am going to share one with you here. It is a question to ask yourself.
For every or shiny object idea that shows up in your mind, and for every opportunity that shows up in your inbox
It’s a very simple question – honestly the best things often are – but when you ask it constantly, for every opportunity. When you turn the asking of that question into a habit, you will be amazed at how focused you become.
Easy right?
This question helps you to sort out inspiration from distraction.
Successful people often credit their success in large part to knowing what to say no to.
Try the question and see how it helps you.
BTW This simple question is also useful for avoiding FOMO.
You can do anything, but you can’t do everything, and you sure can’t do it all at the same time.
Until Next Time,
Happy Creating
